YWCA of Cortland
The foundation is supporting the YWCA’s “More Than You Can Imagine” capital campaign to preserve and expand their facilities with a $60,000 grant.

Since 2005, the Cortland Community Foundation has granted the YWCA of Cortland a total of $95,000. A grant for $10,000 was given as a matching contribution to what the City of Cortland was offering to renovate the historical façade of the building on Clayton Avenue.
Executive Director, Amy Simrell stated “The YWCA would not have been able to access this award without the generosity and rapid response of the newly formed Cortland Community Foundation who supplied the critical matching dollars. In fact, our lack of matching funds had reached a point of jeopardizing the grant award when the Cortland Community Foundation stepped into the breach. What a great reason to support the formation of community foundations!”
A grant for $5,000 was issued to build a handicap accessible ramp leading into The Learning Ladder daycare center on Huntington Street. And $10,000, awarded in 2006, was used for repairs and maintenance on the YWCA building on Clayton Avenue, specifically for replacing a portion of the roof and repairs to the pool.
